Thursday Thoughts: What is DBIA?

Published on: October 11, 2018

Design-Build is a team working together from the start to finish in open communication and purposeful collaboration to deliver otherwise unachievable results. We partner will select architects, engineers and construction professionals to create Design-Build teams that perfectly match the unique demands of any project for our client. We pride ourselves on resourcefulness in problem-solving and creating environments that motivate and inspire. Each team is comprised of Design-Build experts explicitly selected for the task at hand. It's when we come together that great ideas come to life. Creative solutions take hold, resulting in minimized costs, schedules streamlined and efficiencies realized.

The Design-Build Insitute of America was established twenty-five years ago to perfect and share the design-build process. From design to delivery, design-build is the fastest growing and most popular method used to deliver construction projects in America.

With this process, "the owners manage only one contract with a single point of responsibility. The designer and contractor work from the beginning, as a team, providing unified project recommendations to fit the owner's schedule and budget. Any changes are addressed by the entire team, leading to collaborative problem-solving and innovation, not excuses or blame-shifting.

While single-sourcing contracting is the fundamental difference between design-build and the old ways, equally important is the culture of collaboration inherent in design-build." (DBIA, 2018)

SR Construction is proud to be a member of the DBIA Western Pacific Chapter and to have our founder serve as the Nevada Chapter Chair and on the Education Committee.

As the President of the Nevada Chapter, Scott Loughridge leads SR's team of the most respected experts in the industry. Design-build is a part of who we are.
