SR is an active participant in the Building Information Modeling (BIM) authoring and coordination process, utilizing in-house capabilities and experience with Revit and Navisworks. BIM is the process of generating and managing building data during its life cycle. We work directly with the client, design team and trade partners to develop a virtual 3D model, so drawings and plans accurately represent the project. The model is used at meetings for evaluation and coordination of all major trades during the construction life cycle.

SR uses BIM during pre-construction, construction and post construction phases. BIM allows the team to make informed decisions early on to develop scheduling of subcontractors and materials, to provide more precise as-builts and to improve communication throughout the process.

SR Construction has trade partners that are experts in the field and our job is to leverage those talents into value for each project team to improve costs and schedules for our clients.

SR is unique in that we do not approach a subcontractor/GC relationship as adversarial. We build teams that build projects. Through the use of effective field management, coordination, fair dealing and treatment, we consistently manage many great trade partner teams.

SR is a founding member of the local chapter of Lean Construction and a leader in the implementation of these practices.

SR applies an Integrated Project Delivery (IDP) System, also known as Lean Construction, which is a management-based approach that increases efficiency and eliminates waste during all phases of a project.

“Pull planning” is just one part of the Last Planner System and an example of how the collaborative and Lean approach pays dividends for the team. The direct engagement of field foreman and those knowledgeable of activity requirements and durations ensures that firm commitments are made in the planning process. Regular planning sessions allow the team to adjust the course in real-time based on constraints and opportunities to optimize the plan moving forward.

Opposed to the typical approach of establishing a rigid environment and pushing unwilling participants towards the finish line, the pull planning approach directs the responsibility and accountability to those involved in the execution of the work.
