Throughout the past four years, SR Construction has had the honor of working on southern Nevada’s newest hospital, the Henderson Hospital, located at 1050 Galleria Drive in Henderson. From the initial construction to the most recent expansion of the Third Floor West Buildout, the quality and commitment of SR Construction continue to flourish.
In 2014, SR Construction broke ground on the 38.5-acre lot, building a 309,000-square-foot facility. The hospital provides medical care for general surgeries, emergencies, and other specialty services, including cardiac care. SR earned the $100 million contract and delivered the project on time and under budget.
Joseph Garcia, senior project manager with SR Construction, explains the most recent Third Floor West Buildout constructed using the LCI Last Planner system and a very robust scheduling approach. The project team maintained or improved all major milestones, improved the overall completion date as promised to the client, maintained safety objectives, and promptly resolved any challenges.
Since the project site was situated between occupied patient beds on the second floor and a neonatal intensive care unit on the floor above, the project had some significant potential challenges not ordinarily encountered in a typical construction project. By utilizing a truly collaborative approach, this team maintained patient satisfaction, minimized noise disruptions, and remained almost invisible to the visitors and staff.
Most importantly, having a trusting and open relationship with the staff and facility allowed us to be flexible and responsive to their daily needs. These defined the mission and goals for the project team. Understanding this and the urgency of filling a significant need for the community, SR Construction worked with the facility and staff to revise project phasing from six to four phases and deliver these licensed patient beds to the facility 36 days early and significantly under budget.
This is the sixth facility for the Valley Health System, a Universal Health Services subsidiary. Some of Valley Health System’s other facilities include Centennial Hills, Spring Valley, and Summerlin Hospital Medical Centers.
